I met my husband in 1995. I’d just turned 31. We got married in 1998. I was 34. We tried to start to have a family in 2000. I was 36; a bit old to start but certainly not past child bearing age. That was the start of a long and uphill battle. It lasted three and a half years.

Whether we worry about time, or timing, it doesn’t matter. They both belong to God. To worry excessively about how our future might work out is as futile as it is disobedient.

Let’s not dwell on what kind of people we might be someday, but rather, let’s live for Christ, in Christ today. It’s easy to imagine ourselves as something impressive sometime later, but it is better to obey the Lord right now. So it goes that God’s grace always requires reality-based action, which will continue to seem excessively difficult to us as long as we are impressed with imaginary greatness.

When God created the physical world and the physical concept of relativity, he had to bring into existence the opposite of those aspects that define God. Love is at God’s core. This is what God is. In order to experience love, God had to bring into the relative world the concept of the opposite of love.

There are two basic concepts in the life journey you need to be aware of and understand in order to evolve to higher consciousness. First you need to acknowledge that your true nature is one of unity with everything in existence, seen and unseen. You are one with all that exists, including your source. Second, and this is critical to the life journey, you need to accept the idea that when you entered this physical universe you voluntarily agreed to forget that you are a spiritual being with all of the same properties and abilities as the source from which you came.

ART AND SPIRITUALITY

What is the relationship between art and spirituality? We know there is one, but can we articulate it? An artist might say he is dedicated to his art. Does that connote spirituality? Is the art his spiritual path? Many would not take him seriously – yes, one honors the artist’s choice to dedicate himself to art. But dedication to one’s work does not necessarily a spiritual path make. Or does it? “I’m dedicated to my art.” Pshaw, many would say, and, don’t take it so seriously.

Supposing a seven year old wrote an article about how Shakespeare was a bad writer. Of course, the 7 year old has not read anything by Shakespeare. But, he has read a few comics and, by his standard, the comics are much more likely to be good reading than Shakespeare. He has never tried reading Shakespeare, nor does he have any inclination to try it; it looks boring and a waste of time. We would not blame the seven year old for preferring comics to Shakespeare. But, given that he has never read Shakespeare, how much weight could we give to his views that Shakespeare is a bad writer?
